What’s your role in keeping things running smoothly at Investools®?
I’m a content manager for Investools. I compose educational courses and videos on trading and investing. I’ve written for Investools, TD Ameritrade, Forbes and Investopedia. The videos you watch and the courses you completed were likely created or otherwise touched by me, in one way or another.

What’s your greatest challenge in fulfilling this role?
Sometimes I have visions of interactive tools and activities that are too time-consuming for our development team to complete.

What have you done in the field?
In 1999, I started my finance career as a registered representative for Edward Jones Investments, running my own office. I was briefly with WellsTrade, an online brokerage. About 11 years ago, I joined Investools as a coach, then I worked as a manager and then a corporate trainer for the coaching department. About six years ago I started writing a daily commentary for the content department. Eventually, I moved over full-time and started writing courses.

What’s a “Golden Rule” you live by?
More often than not, there are several ways to accomplish something. Instead of trying to find one all-knowing genius to lead us, people should be freed up so a million geniuses can emerge.

Who’s your investing or trading idol?
I can’t say that I have one. I’ve learned something from almost every professional trader I’ve studied and I’ve found things about them or their style that I didn’t care for. So, if I had to settle on one person I would say Bruce Lee. When it comes to trading, “be as water.”

When not working you can find me…
I have four daughters. You can catch me at plays, recitals, softball practices and games, and daddy-daughter dates.

Tell us something the world doesn’t know about you.
I’m a big guy who grew up playing football and wrestling, but people are usually surprised to find out I love the arts. I have been in many plays, competed in drama, choir, speech and debate. And thanks to my humanities-major wife, I’ve seen many adaptations of classic works. Once in a while I try to read them too.
